The Reconciliation

Poland at the start of the year 1945. In a country that just got its freedom, the Communist Security Service is killing all of its enemies under the guise of punishing "national traitors." On the grounds of the former Nazi concentration camp Zgoda/Reconciliation, they set up a work camp for Germans, Silesians, and Poles. Franek, a Pole in love with a Polish inmate named Anna, takes a job as a camp guard in an effort to free her. The fact that his German friend Erwin, also a prisoner, has secretly loved the same girl for years goes unnoticed by him. Franek decides to join the communist party in an attempt to game the system.
