Murieta

Joaquin Murieta, a Mexican peasant, and his wife travel north to California in search of riches, but they only meet one white person, a marshal, who befriends them. However, after Murieta is battered and robbed, and his wife is murdered by bandits, he seeks vengeance by organizing an outlaw group that robs the countryside. The marshal eventually corners Murieta and convinces him to abandon his crusade. When Murieta is subsequently wounded and recovers, his gang begins a reign of terror without his awareness, leading to his death in a last confrontation at the hands of the marshal.
