Beyond the Blackboard
"Beyond the Blackboard," based on a true tale, tells the story of a 24-year-old first-year teacher who makes a difference in the lives of the homeless children she teaches in a makeshift classroom in a shelter. This film, set in 1987 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, follows the story of a brand-new teacher and mother who is given a tougher-than-expected teaching job and ends up teaching homeless children in a school that is actually called The School with No Name. She must overcome certain personal obstacles before she can be a true teacher for these children, as well as obstacles such as a shortage of books and supplies.
